Three major regulatory changes are bearing down on those who supply chemicals to the industrial and consumer markets. The changes will also impact those who use chemicals in their products and processes.

The implementation of REACH is dramatically impacting all suppliers and users of chemicals from manufacturers to retailers.

Almost all chemicals require registration which is proving to be a very demanding and complex task.  The approaching deadlines for registration are viewed with growing concern and there are real risks of many firms failing to meet them.  It is foresseable that some chemicals will disappear from the market and others will be more costly.  The challenge is therfore not a simple matter of technical detail, it is a whole business issue and must be managed as such.

In addition the new CLP regulation requires rapid and complex changes to labels and introduces a host of new obligations, including many paperwork tasks.

Other demands such as new safety data sheets are also causing concern, again difficult timetables and a lack of guidance make the task for small firms nearly overwhelming.

No one in the chemical supply chain will be immune to these changes.

Bob Warner has been directly involved in the development of these proposals from the earliest stages. He was called to gave evidence to the House of Lords during the UK Government's consideration of REACH.  With Associates he has  completed a major assignment as a technical advisor to the European Commission during the negotiation of the CLP Regulation and he participated in the drafting of the technical Annexes and the supporting guidance. He was the UK negotiator during the development of GHS at the UN and OECD.  Bob and his Associates have a wealth of practical experience which is available to business.  Chemwise can show you how to:
